Job Summary

We are seeking a Consumer Lending Officer specializing in purchase, refinance, construction loans and all consumer loans for our organization. Responsible for marketing the consumer lending product and building strong working relationships with industry contacts. Provide knowledge of the consumer marketplace, available products, and financing available to present options that best meet a customer’s current and future needs. You will be responsible for originating credit to customers by assessing the request and obtaining business and financial information needed to determine the viability and profitability of the deal.  You will lead the customer relationship and often coordinate with others to serve the customer’s needs.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Sales and Relationship Management: Develop and maintain a professional presence and use effective sales and relational strategies to increase the Associations’ consumer market share in the assigned territory. This includes: 

  • Engagement in marketing and promotional activities throughout the assigned territory to support sales goals; maintain professional relationships with appropriate industry groups, home mortgage professionals and organizations. 
  • Determine and define the appropriate customer interaction and coordinate the appropriate support of resources that may directly or indirectly provide service to the applicant(s). Effectively communicate with the applicant(s) and appropriate team members regarding the request. 
  • Introduce applicant(s) to teammate(s) who will support the process. 
  • Actively engage with team members including daily processing and servicing of credit and participating in training, development and relationship building activities. 

Deliver Sound Credit: In support of originating credit requests, the officer will: 

  • Gather and document customer financial information and application details, in compliance with consumer lending requirements and in coordination with appropriate team members. 
  • Assist customers in preparing accurate financial information needed. 
  • Interpret and evaluate financial information and ask probing questions to determine the appropriate product or service needs of the applicant(s). 
  • Recommend loan terms, conditions, collateral position consistent with the request and associated loan risks and set clear expectations with the applicant(s). 
  • Communicate credit decisions, loan terms and conditions to the customer; resell deal as needed if terms change. 
  • Coach and counsel customers to meet future financial goals. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Cont.

Service Portfolio: Provide the following on-going service and support: 

  • Provide oversight and monitoring of construction projects; coach and counsel when cost overruns apply. 
  • Review property inspections according to procedures. 

Travel Time

  • Day travel - 50%
  • Overnight travel - 15%

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, Real Estate, Business, Finance or Economics or related field is preferred. 

Years of Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in Real Estate, Business, or Finance.
