Job Summary
We are seeking an SVP Business Development – Capital Markets who will lead the development and execution of the Association's business development strategies in the designated Capital Market segment. You will provide direct leadership to Corporate and/or Commercial Business Development teams in the execution of sales, marketing, and credit coaching for loan purchases, loan syndications (if applicable), originated agricultural loan products and related services in the designated market areas. Serve as a sales coach and mentor by selecting and developing talent, implementing sales enablement and syndication (if applicable) strategies, improving delivery channels and processes, identifying product and process enhancements that achieve growth objectives. Serve the Association’s internal and external customers and prospects by providing timely service, industry expertise, sound credit and loan structuring guidance, and delivers an unrivaled customer experience that optimizes the Associations’ value proposition.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing team through coaching, feedback, and sound decisions on legal strategy, loan structure, pricing, and documentation.
- Along with other leaders, develop business and market plans
- Ensue that major Associations’ initiatives are implemented, standardized and adhered to
- Carry out the Associations’ System Influence Strategy
- Implement leadership activities around the Associations’ Strategic ObjectivesProvide visionary thinking, input and help shape strategies to reach the Associations’ goals
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all areas of the Associations, especially with other Credit and Operations teams and leaders
Business Development
- Lead market-segment marketing strategy and delivery models aligned with Association objectives.
- Build strategic relationships with banking partners, system participants, customers, and prospects.
- Align business development and retail/commercial teams as a cohesive business unit.
- Coach the team on relationship selling, needs analysis, pipeline management, and key relationship development.
Credit Administration and Product Delivery
- Lead credit philosophy, capital allocation, and guidance on transaction structure, pricing, and bank group composition.
- Manage portfolios for growth, profitability, asset quality, risk, and efficient use of capital.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, pricing approvals, and fee guidelines.
- Align commercial lending, investments, and relationships with organizational priorities and coach teams to deliver balanced portfolio performance.
Senior Leadership Duties
- Empower leaders and teammates with clear decision authority, resources, and accountability; make timely, principled decisions aligned with organizational values.
- Set and execute team and enterprise strategy, translating organizational vision into aligned priorities, measurable outcomes, and continuous improvement.
- Build trust-based partnerships across the Association and with external stakeholders to strengthen collaboration, influence, and mission impact.
- Build a diverse, high-performing workforce through workforce planning, coaching, succession development, and equitable talent and compensation practices.
- Oversee business planning, budgeting, financial performance, resource allocation, and enterprise risk to support sustainable results and business continuity.
- Champion enterprise change by setting direction, building readiness and resilience, and ensuring disciplined execution of transformation initiatives.
Travel Time
- Percentage of time required to travel during the day - 50%
- Percentage of time required to travel overnight - 50%
Education Requirements
- Minimum, 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree, Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, or Finance,
- Preferred, Graduate Degree, Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, or Finance,
Years of Experience
- 12 + years of experience, which may include prior senior leadership experience, Commercial and/or agribusiness credit experience. Progressive middle to upper-level leadership experience
