Job Summary

We are seeking a VP Product who will provide leadership for a business aligned Product function and is accountable for enabling Product Managers and Product Owners to deliver business value in alignment with Association and business unit priorities. This leader provides direction, coaching, and operating discipline across Product Managers and Product Owners, ensuring clear ownership of discovery, delivery readiness, value realization, and stakeholder alignment. The role partners closely with senior and executive leadership to translate business priorities into a clear product direction, facilitate trade-off decisions, and align product capacity to the work that delivers the greatest value. Rather than acting as the day-to-day owner of individual product health or standalone product strategy, this position leads the system of Product practices that connects business priorities, Product discovery, backlog readiness, Technology delivery, and value realization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Product Team Leadership  

  • Lead the Product function across Product Managers and Product Owners. Set clear expectations for role ownership, develop capability and consistency in product practices, coach teammates, and ensure work is organized around flow of value rather than reporting structure.  
  • Provide leadership that enables Product Owners to maintain team backlog readiness and partner effectively with Technology and Platform teams. Ensure Product Managers carry business context from problem definition through realization, and that delivered work is evaluated against intended business value.  

Stakeholder Alignment  

  • Partner with senior and executive leadership to translate Association and business unit priorities into clear product direction, trade-off decisions, and value-based sequencing. Facilitate prioritization and deconfliction through appropriate governance forums and ensure Product work remains aligned to business priorities.  
  • Maintain strong partnerships with Technology, Operations, UX, Marketing, Sales, and business unit stakeholders. Use product, support, and delivery insights to improve ways of working, strengthen handoffs, and increase predictability of value delivery.  

Operating Model, Intake, and Prioritization Leadership  

  • Own the Product operating rhythm for intake, triage, prioritization, backlog placement, and cross business unit dependency visibility. Ensure business maintenance, strategic initiatives, and association-wide work to enter the appropriate workflow and are supported by the context needed for decision-making and delivery.  

Leadership Duties

  • Share leadership with team members by empowering them to make decisions. This includes allowing them to take initiative, providing access to information and resources, and holding them accountable. Encourage team members to act autonomously and to contribute ideas and solutions.  
  • Provide team leadership, shared vision, and positive communications   to achieve the Associations’ vision and strategy consistent with the Associations’ core values and team principles. Build strong relationships and collaborative partnerships within the Associations to understand the business opportunities and challenges.  
  • Establish a positive, participative, and collaborative team environment that inspires creative, high-performing, continuous learning, and engaged team members. Utilize consensus decision-making, when appropriate, to diversify thinking and enable and empower teammates.  
  • Responsible for attracting, selecting, and on-boarding a diverse and qualified team and determining the appropriate team resource requirements to meet the Associations’ strategic direction.   
  • Develop team members through coaching, training and development, opportunities, and on-going performance feedback including timely follow-up on individual development plans, counsel team members on Talent Management activities.  
  • Complete and/or recommend salary administration for team members in accordance with Association procedures.  
  • Develop and monitor the business plan.

Travel Time

  • Travel during the day = 15% 

  • Travel overnight =15% 

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Accounting, Finance or related field. Graduate degree preferred.  

Years of Experience

  • 8+ years of progressive experience, including prior leadership experience, leading product strategy, portfolio prioritization, product management and ownership practices, stakeholder alignment, delivery outcomes, and team development in complex business or technology environments.
