Job Summary

We are seeking a VP Enterprise Architecture who will lead the Enterprise Architecture team and is responsible for establishing architecture standards, governance processes, and technology design practices across the organization. This role ensures technology solutions are secure, scalable, supportable, and aligned with enterprise standards while enabling effective delivery across Business Technology. The VP champions technical excellence, architectural discipline, and sound engineering practices, guiding the evolution of technology solutions through incremental change and continuous improvement while balancing business value, risk, complexity, and investment. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Enterprise Architecture team.  
  • Establish and maintain enterprise architecture standards, principles, and reference architectures. 
  • Facilitate architecture reviews and governance processes for technology initiatives. 
  • Champion technical excellence, engineering quality, and architectural consistency across technology teams.  
  • Promote the evolution of enterprise solutions through incremental modernization approaches that balance business needs, technical debt, risk reduction, and investment levels. 
  • Provide architectural guidance and consultation to application, data, infrastructure, security, and AI teams. 
  • Promote reusable, secure, scalable, and maintainable technology solutions across the enterprise. 
  • Maintain visibility into the technology landscape and identify opportunities to reduce complexity and redundancy. 
  • Partner with technology leaders to ensure solutions align with approved architecture standards and long-term sustainability objectives. 
  • Evaluate technology risks and recommend architectural improvements. 
  • Communicate architecture decisions, standards, and recommendations to technology and business stakeholders. 

Leadership Duties

  • Share leadership with team members by empowering them to make decisions. This includes allowing them to take initiative, providing access to information and resources, and holding them accountable. Encourage team members to act autonomously and to contribute ideas and solutions.  
  • Provide team leadership, shared vision, and positive communications to achieve the Associations’ vision and strategy consistent with the Associations’ core values and team principles. Build strong relationships and collaborative partnerships within the Associations to understand the business opportunities and challenges.  
  • Establish a positive, participative, and collaborative team environment that inspires creative, high-performing, continuous learning, and engaged team members. Utilize consensus decision-making, when appropriate, to diversify thinking and enable and empower teammates. 
  • Responsible for attracting, selecting, and on-boarding a diverse and qualified team and determining the appropriate team resource requirements to meet the Associations’ strategic direction.  
  • Develop team members through coaching, training and development, opportunities, and on-going performance feedback including timely follow-up on individual development plans; counsel team members on Talent Management activities. 
  • Complete and/or recommend salary administration for team members in accordance with Association procedures. 
  • Develop and monitor the business plan and annual operating budgets related to areas of responsibilities. Review and approve operational expenditures within delegated authority. 

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field.  

Years of Experience

  • 10+ years of Technology experience with prior leadership experience. 

Certification and Technical Requirements

  • Experience leading enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or technical design teams. 

  • Knowledge of modern application, data, cloud, integration, and infrastructure technologies.
