Job Summary

We are looking for a Litigation Officer to join our AgDirect team.  You will manage an assigned portfolio of AgDirect loans and retail installment sales contracts that involve formal legal action, including but not limited to, bankruptcy, foreclosure, replevin and/or money judgment proceedings.  

 

Primary responsibility is to maintain the safety and soundness of the Associations by resolving through mediation, settlement, restructure or collection on assigned AgDirect loans and retail installment sales contracts. This position will work closely with internal legal counsel and coordinate with external legal counsel as necessary to bring about effective and efficient resolution. This position will also be responsible for the management and disposition of collateral securing the assigned AgDirect loans and retail installment sales contracts.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of AgDirect loans and retail installment sales contracts in formal legal action, including but not limited to, bankruptcy, foreclosure, replevin, and/or money judgment proceedings in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Resolve through mediation, settlement, restructure or collection of AgDirect loans and retail installment sales contracts. Work closely with internal legal counsel and coordinate with external legal counsel as necessary to bring about effective and efficient resolution of assigned AgDirect loans and retail installment sales contracts.
  • Supervise credit classification changes and accrual/stop accrual analysis for assigned AgDirect loans and retail installment sales contracts to ensure satisfactory credit administration and credit quality goals.
  • Manage the recovery and disposition of collateral by securing the assigned AgDirect loans and retail installment sales contracts in a manner that results in the greatest net return for the Associations. This may involve the use of third parties to assist in the management, marketing and disposition of associated collateral. 

Education Requirements

  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Preferred in Business, Finance or Economics

Years of Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in lending/credit analysis with the Farm Credit System or a related agricultural credit organization.   

  • Collection or litigation experience, preference given to agriculture or commercial collections experience.
