Job Summary

**This position will be based out of our Omaha or Fargo offices however there is flexibility to be based out of one of our retail locations, for the right candidate – work from home may be an option** 

 

We are seeking a Senior Vice President of Business Development - Commercial who will serve as an enterprise level leader with a focus on the development and execution of the Association's business development strategies in the designated market segment(s). Provide direct leadership to Commercial Business Development leadership team in the execution of sales, marketing, and credit strategies for agricultural loan products and related services in the designated market areas.  Serve the Association’s internal and external customers and prospects by designing strategies that deliver a balance of growth, profit and quality through unrivaled customer experience. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Business Development 

  • Provide leadership, direction and counsel in the delivery of the Association’s credit philosophy. Hold team accountable for effective credit administration, and compliance with established procedures and policies.
  • Counsel leadership team to ensure an appropriate balance of growth, profitability and credit quality.
  • Actively involved in identifying and designing changes to marketplace delivery models to ensure that Association objectives are met. Responsible for designing and leading the execution of product pricing strategies and product enhancements to tailor products to meet customer needs while achieving organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Sales Enablement teams in the development and execution of sales and marketing strategies. Plan, coordinate and implement advertising and marketing strategies across assigned business development area. Responsible for designated promotional and advertising budgets.
  • Develop and maintain a highly visible professional presence and serve as the primary point of contact for peer level relationships throughout the agricultural industry, Farm Credit System, and government sectors.

  • Share leadership with team members by empowering them to make decisions. Encourage team members to act autonomously and to contribute ideas and solutions.
  • Provide team leadership, shared vision, and positive communications to achieve the Associations’ vision and strategy consistent with the Associations’ core values and team principles.  
  • Establish a positive, participative, and collaborative team environment that inspires creative, high-performing, continuous learning, and engaged team members.  
  • Responsible for attracting, selecting, and on-boarding a diverse and qualified team and determining the appropriate team resource requirements to meet the Associations’ strategic direction.  
  • Develop team members through coaching, training and development, opportunities, and on-going performance feedback including timely follow-up on individual development plans; counselling team members on Talent Management activities.
  • Develop and monitor the business plan and annual operating budgets related to areas of responsibilities.  

 

Senior Leadership 

  • Provide visionary thinking and develop strategies to reach Associations short-term and long-term goals.
  • Ensure initiatives are implemented and adhered to Associations strategic goals.
  • Responsible for overall business planning and approval of business unit budgets.
  • Serve as a Senior Leader representing the organization and senior leadership with internal and external audiences including providing cross-operational strategic input and direction. 

Travel Time

  • Percentage of time required to travel during the day - 30%
  • Percentage of time required to travel overnight - 30%

Education Requirements

  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Minimum in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science
  • Graduate Degree Preferred

Years of Experience

  • 12 years of experience, including some prior senior leadership experience in Agriculture Finance experience
