Job Summary
We are seeking a Sr Farm Accounting Specialist who will provide farm accounting services and promotes products to medium to large accounts/customers that are moderately high in complexity, in support of their credit, tax and management decisions. Educates farm accounting customers and teammates in financial recordkeeping. Works with customers to enhance their knowledge as it pertains to farm operations management, business planning and marketing decisions. Works with Loan Officers to market and cross-sell products and services to new and existing customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assembles, keys, reviews, distributes and reconciles customer data to produce monthly and annual farm accounting statements.
- Contacts customers who are delinquent in submitting their data for processing or for payment of services. Manage customers to keep delinquencies (missing data) to a minimum.
- Establishes strong customer relationships and takes ownership in customer problems and concerns until they are resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
- Provides high level education to farm accounting customers and teammates.
- Participates in one-on-one customer product training and leads group training sessions to expand customer knowledge of farm operations management, business planning and marketing decisions.
- Consult customers to ensure financial reporting is appropriate and accounting decision points are understood and implemented.
- Instructs branch co-workers in the interpretation and use of farm accounting statements.
- Serves as a resource to other Farm Accounting Specialists and greater teammates.
- Using a consultative sales method, collaborates with Loan Officers and Tax staff to sell integrated package of financial services – specializing in farm accounting – to new and existing customers.
- Participates in branch and department marketing and business plans that summarize opportunities, threats and needed resources.
- Teams with Loan Officers to develop prospect lists, contact prospects and meet new customer sales goals. Conducts individual and group customer and prospect meetings.
- Develops and maintain documented strategies for large, complex accounts in order to deliver outstanding products and services to retain accounts.
- Establishes networking relationships with individuals in the business and agricultural communities.
- Maintains sales and marketing competence by participating in sales and development training programs.
- Works with the leader and the Education Department to continually expand knowledge and expertise in accounting. Maintains a thorough understanding of farm accounting processes, procedures and regulations. Adapts conventional accounting and record keeping functions to comply with all processes and procedures.

Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related business field; or equivalent work experience

5 + years of accounting or other related experience
